About

I specialize in comprehensive inspections of wood-burning fireplaces, stoves, and pellet stoves, ensuring your heating systems operate safely and efficiently. My detailed inspection process is designed to identify any issues that could compromise the performance or safety of your system.

What My Inspections Involve:

Wood-Burning Fireplaces and Stoves:

  • Structural Integrity: I thoroughly inspect the hearth, firebox, and damper for any signs of wear or damage.

  • Ventilation and Clearances: The chimney and flue are carefully examined for blockages, creosote buildup, or structural concerns, and clearances from combustibles are checked to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  •

Pellet Stoves:

  • Mechanical Components: I inspect the hopper, auger motor, combustion motor, and convection motor for functionality and wear.

  • Electrical Systems: I check the safety switches and wiring to ensure they are in good condition and functioning properly.

  • Ventilation, Exhaust, and Clearances: The ventilation system, spark arrestor, and gaskets are inspected for blockages, damage, or wear to ensure proper operation, and clearances are verified to prevent heat-related issues.

  •

Advanced Camera Inspections:

Camera inspections are performed if possible and deemed necessary to thoroughly assess hard-to-reach areas. These inspections are provided free of charge unless a copy of the inspection video is requested, in which case there is a fee of $25. Please note that I do not keep copies of the video after the service.

Post-Inspection Report and Recommendations:

Following the inspection, you will receive a detailed report outlining the condition of your system, any issues identified, and recommendations for maintenance or repairs. This report ensures you have all the information needed to keep your system functioning safely and efficiently.

Education and Maintenance Tips:

I believe in empowering my clients with knowledge. After the inspection, I provide you with tips on maintaining your fireplace or stove and educate you on best practices to ensure long-term safety and efficiency. For pellet stove owners, I also provide specific training on how to use their stoves efficiently and safely.

Compliance with NFPA 211 and IRC 2018:

My inspections adhere to the stringent guidelines set forth by NFPA 211 and the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC), ensuring that every aspect of your system meets or exceeds industry standards for safety and performance.

My goal is to provide you with a detailed and accurate understanding of the condition of your heating systems. Trust my expertise to ensure that your wood-burning or pellet stove system is safe, efficient, and ready to provide warmth and comfort to your home.
